She attained her Bachelor of Business (Accounting) degree with Distinction and has built a successful career in the financial sector of the corporate world.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNicola now lives with her husband, Dave, and their blue English Staffy, Nitro, on their catamaran in the Cairns Marlin Marina. She describes herself as a finance professional with an overactive imagination. She enjoys writing, swimming, fishing, and all things to do with the ocean.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhilst recuperating from a back operation and taking daily walks along the Cairns Esplanade, Nicola fell in love with a local pelican whom she nicknamed ‘Percy’. Suddenly, the walks became less about physiotherapy and more about catching a glimpse of Percy and watching him diving for fish, grooming his wings, or having a swim.
